I would LOVE Apple to put more resources into gaming, especially on the hardware side. I would buy loads more Mac Games if my laptop had the grunt to run even the few games that get ported from consoles and the PC.

Ideally, games would migrate between the Apple TV 3 and the notebook using the same code base. Or streaming from the Mac to the Apple TV or from the Internet ala OnLive.

What you need to understand is that it's more complex than this. Apple benefits from the sorry state of anti-Apple blogging in many ways. These pundits have their day in the sun, but all eventually wind up with egg over their face. Also, they reinforce Apple's renegade/outsider role. When Apple is accepted and praised by these types....THEN YOU KNOW APPLE IS IN TROUBLE. When these type scurry for any reason they can invent to slur Apple - you know Apple is well positioned in the collective consciousness.
But there is more to this, what Apple has that causes these attacks is STATUS.
These attacks reinforce this status, and to keep this it, Apple needs these people to attack it with bogus claims. Loosing a segment of customers to spurious misinformation only insures these customers will later become rabid fans.
Take heart, all is as it should be.

Thomas,

Good job! I also used to enjoy reading tech sites as part of my daily routine. Lately viewing RSS feeds I found it just bizarre the amount of obvious bs that is being circulated but what are supposed to be reputable sites. Viewing the list of feeds you often see two articles in a row, one reporting Android forth quarter sales crushing Apple, the very next link saying Apple surpassed Andriod in 4th quarter sales - wtf? It really seems that accountability and honesty are gone in efforts to drive up readership & stats. Then there are the comments, yes I also used to join into the fray - how draining. I think you have several good points, I think I will become more selective about my reading, my writing especially the comments.

Good luck on your endeavor!

The NYTimes articles are a fine example of the old adage: consider the source.

Sure, the headlines probably increased NYTimes traffic quite a bit among some segments of the public — preaching to the choir, as it were — but, as you stated, it attempts to hide all of the sins of our modern, consumer society behind one scapegoat. In reality, almost any consumer goods these days are Made In China — but they are either made under contract or sold by just about anyone and everyone.

It's really unfortunate that the articles and investigative efforts in general haven't taken a less sensational and more effective approach. I legitimately want to know what conditions are like at other plants in the Far East -- Samsungs company-owned factories come to mind -- not for the sake of saying "everyone does it" but for the purpose of determining who, if anyone, is doing it better. And if in fact all the factories are as bad, what companies involved with the problem are making efforts to change things? What efforts? Who is stonewalling? It seems pretty clear if most big clients were demanding change it would happen. We know Apple is applying some pressure. What efforts are being made to coordinate industry efforts? Of course how much easier to simply declare a boycott (ironically on one of a couple of players now trying to improve things) and by HP, Dell and a host of other products built in exactly the same factories. Case closed, I feel better and can then safely ignore the problem.

The problem with today's "connected" TVs is that they aren't really connected. I don't need to browse the web on my blue-ray player, but I might like to have it streamed to any screen in the house or to my phone or tablet while away from home.

What is missing is networked applications that make all these devices one device. I buy a game on disc and play it on any of my devices. I subscribe to a show and they are all waiting from me in my queue and it remembers where I left off no matter which service I obtained the show from. The best channel selection is NO channels. The best TV network is your own network of devices.

The best input selection method is simply to see what you want when and where you want it.
